This morning I got an email from one of the members of Squidoo Queen asking for my advice. It seems that one of our members was promoting a product that had a built in affiliate program, this meant that the member would be getting paid via Paypal at the end of the month. It also meant that our member would have to rely on the honesty of the merchant to pay her.
We all hear of the big affiliate sites such as Clickbank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction and other big players. There are however, tools out there that will allow you to build your own in-house affiliate center. The problems for affiliate marketers is that they then have to place all their trust in the merchant and spend the next month or so wondering if they will ever see their commissions. Using the big players offers you a certain level of protection. You know that with Clickbank, you are going to get paid on the dot each and every time.
It seems that our member had signed up for a small affiliate program and made some sales. There were no large sums of money involved (luckily) and at the end of June, she was owed around $100. It seems that the merchant has just up’d and gone. No website, no products and our member is $100 down.
There are a lot of other affiliate programs out there that you can use and trust, simply because they have worked hard to build that trust. For example, you can see here a list of affiliate programs that I belong to, promote AND get paid from.
- Commission Junction
- WealthyAffiliate (TOP PICK – Recurring payments)
- Paid On Results
- Market Health
- Adult Friend Finder (ADULT CONTENT)
I am actually a member of a lot more sites than just this, but these are the ones where I get regular income and paid on time without fail. I don’t recommend that you go out and join each and everyone of these sites. Pick one, join, work it. Don’t spread yourself too thinly or you will end up not devoting enough time to each program.
