Marketing Tips

I hope that everyone is using articles as part of their marketing as it’s powerful stuff when done correctly.  Not only can you drive traffic to your Squidoo lenses, websites or blogs using the method, you can also build up a great set of backlinks to your site.

You might have read a lot of information that contradicts what you have been told and there is always a great debate going on about backlinks, duplicate content etc with article marketing.  I tend to work off experience and people who have provided proof of their own success.

If you hate writing articles I strongly suggest that you look into some good PLR or you get yourself someone who will write them for you.  A quick look on the Warrior Forum will give you a lot of people who are great at article marketing and cost next to nothing – you can get some great deals on articles and PLR over there so no one has the excuse that they don’t have time or don’t like to do it.

Recently, Travis Sago did a great promotion for affiliates of his product on Clickbank and as Travis is the ‘daddy’ of Bum Marketing, he gave a lot of good advice for article marketing.  Although I never took part in the contest he held, I did do a few articles and sent them to one of my lenses.  You can see the traffic I got in just seven days here:

So for anyone who thinks that article marketing isn’t powerful stuff, think again.  From the traffic JUST from article marketing I made 5 sales, not bad from 20 minutes of work.  The best part is, that half an hour of work will continue to bring me in sales for a long time to come.

Article Marketing doesn’t have to be hard work and you can test everything you do.  If you find that you are getting people reading but not clicking through, a simple change of the author bio can increase sales by more than 250%.  If no one is reading it, change the title of the article and see if that helps.  You can carry on working with one article for a long time and keep improving your clickthrough rate and sales.

Anyone who is serious about making their article marketing more profitable should think about getting ‘Exploiting Ezine Articles’.  I have made it a great deal for my readers and you can get your hands on a copy for just $5.  This will not last long though as I have plans to expand this and put it on Clickbank soon.

I loved this report Kelly. I have to say that after I put the information to use I saw that my articles got more reads and many more clicks. Great information insdie this and for a great price.

P.S I joined the warrior forum and have to say that it takes up a LOT of my time so not so thankful for that one 🙂

Thanks for the kind words Abbie. I did warn you that the Warrior Forum can be VERY addictive! You need to limit the amount of time that you spend there or you’ll quickly find that you are there for hours and not achieved anything in that time.

Keep going and thanks for the progress report that you sent – you’re doing really well.

Good article…funny thing that I change my adwords ads all the time to increase sales, click thru rate etc..but never thought about editing my articles as well. Sometimes the common sense stuff slips by:)

    Thanks again,

Enjoy reading your stuff, but was curious, when you submit to article directories, can you put you squidoo link in the resource box.

  5. Kelly Says:

    @ Sheri

It can sometimes be the simplest things that we don’t pay attention to. One of the major factors in success is being able to monitor and track everything you do. After all, if you have no idea where your sale or lead came from how can you repeat the process?

In your case, you are already doing this with your PPC so doing it with your articles wont be a problem – just remember to make time for it each week.

    @ Duane

Each directory is different so on some you can and others you are not allowed to. Check each directory for their terms and conditions.

Another point to remember is if you are sending your article to multiple directories, change the title and a portion of the content. The author bio should also be changed too.

Article marketing is powerful and something I need to get back into. I have marketed via articles in over a year because I thought the technique was dead for the most part with so many people doing it, so much spam and so much worthless content.

Another option is using something like Syndicate Kahuna to publish your articles on blogs.

There is also a WordPress plugin floating around around there that will turn your posts into articles and submit them to article directories automatically.

Ezine Articles Rules. They drive a ton of Traffic and it is great that they show you all the stats on your individual articles. What is the best converting article you have written. I guess the real question is what is the best percentage of people reading an ezine article that ended up going to your site? I have a couple of pages that continue to have over 25% of the readers going to my site. I am sure some people are getting better conversions than that.
